Kate Engler Celebrates One Year of Service to Big Brothers, Big Sisters

Parcon team member Kate Engler is proud to celebrate one year of service to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization. The program allows Kate to spend one-on-one time mentoring her paired youth multiple times a month. Big Brothers Big Sisters aims to decrease the number of disconnected youth in Orange, Riverside and San Bernadino counties, with the belief that empowered youth have the potential to change our world.

Kate says, "As the youngest in my immediate family and the only female amongst all of my cousins, having a sister was something entirely new for me. I wanted to have the opportunity to help guide a child through whatever difficulties she may be encountering in life. Having the chance to spend time with a girl who just needs a friend and a bit of life experience from someone other than her parents has been incredibly humbling and rewarding. Though I cannot change her situation or her own personal choices, I can attempt to normalize her life with some consistency and help give her the tools to move forward and rise up to her full potential."
